Janet Strong will give a slide show presentation of her grandmother's haute couture dresses at the Bass Harbor Memorial Library on Monday, February 17th at 6:30 pm. Ms. Strong discovered a treasure trove of 30 splendid dresses and many beaded scarves, dress-up costumes, and hats in her great grandmothers attic 3 years ago. The family carefully photographed the collection, some of which dated back to 1895, before they donated most of the pieces to a college of fashion in Canada. Ms. Strong kept some of the items of clothing, which will be on display at the library for the event and for the month of March. Come and experience the finery--vintage hand-beaded, hand-stitched brocades, silks, and rich velvet and learn about her grandmother's life in Toronto at the inception of modernity.
