Lecture on South Africa and the Legacy of Mandela

Son Wabile Pepani III of South Africa will discuss the history of apartheid in South Africa and South Africa today at the Bass Harbor Memorial Library on Thursday, August 1 at 7pm. Pepani's father was a Freedom Fighter with Nelson Mandela and was similarly exiled from South Africa. He was Ambassador to Ethiopia, Representative from the African Union to the U.N., and now serves as Ambassador to Oman. His son, Son Pepani, is a student at St. Lawrence College majoring in Economics and International Affairs. He brings his unique experience in proximity to the work and life of Nelson Mandela to reflect on Mandela's legacy.
