On the Trail of Volunteers--Talk with Mike Hays

posted Jun 8, 2016, 11:21 AM by BHML Librarian
On Thursday, June 16th at 5pm, Mike Hays will present "If Not Us, Then Who?" about the history of the volunteer effort in Acadia National Park.

One of the most visible aspects of Acadia National Park are the large numbers of volunteers working on the hiking trails and the carriage roads. But how did this outpouring of enthusiasm develop and how has it changed over time? These and other topics are the subject of the program "If Not Us, Then Who?" presented by Mike Hays, a Volunteer in the Park since 1995, and a Volunteer Crew Leader since 2004. The program presents the volunteer effort within the context of the history of Acadia National Park and the larger American historical perspective.
