On Saturday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m., The Bass Harbor Memorial Library will show the film, Deep Waters. This movie is the 3rd in our monthly film series, Movies Filmed in Maine. Deep Waters, filmed on Vinal Haven in 1948, is based on the novel Spoonhandle by Tremont author Ruth Moore. It stars Dana Andrews, Jean Peters, Anne Revere, Dean Stockwell, Ed Begley and Cesar Romero.
In honor of Womens' History Month and the theme of Journeys, this movie represents the journeys of Ruth Moore, Tremont's most celebrated author.
Ms. Moore was born and raised on Gott's Island, Maine, but spent the first part of her adult life working in New York City and California. Selling the movie rights for Spoonhandle, allowed her to return home and spend the remainder of her adult life living and writing in Bass Harbor.
